We thought it would be fun to start a STAR-Onsite and STAR-Online - we can all share information throughout the year. After you have accepted my invitation to join you will have access to add comments, video, pictures, etc.
If you have any questions just let me know. There is also something called Google Reader (RSS reader) that you can use to manage blogs, wikis and podcast This helps keep everything organized.
Links below are to videos explaining blogs and RSS readers.

My name is Marisa and I teach college students. You might think that these student come into my class all tech savvy but that is completely untrue. Occasionally I'll have a student who is comfortable with technology but most of them are not all that excited about using technology in the classroom. My goal is to change their opinion while teaching them how to integrate!
I will be using Facebook, blogger.com and wikiespaces.com with my students this semester. They will use blogger.com to share their insight on a technology article and they will also be required to comment on all of their classmates blogs. I did this assignment last semester but we didn't start it until late in the semester. This semester we will begin the second or third week of class. I am excited about hearing what they have to say!
I teach science and love to teach the Solar System. Before I begin the solar system we go over the Periodic Table. One of the exciting things that I do is have the students create a large periodic table. Each student gets one element. They then create a tile on that element. We take all the tiles and place them up on the wall to create one large periodic table. Students refer to this throughout the school year. Great, Fun Project!!!
Hi name is Anitra and I teach 6th Grade Science. I have several projects that I am working to improve but my real pet project is creating cell models. One year I had students build a city based on an animal cell and a plant cell, another year I had students create a 3-D cell model. This year i would like to provide a variety of options which incorporate technology such as developing comic strips, PowerPoint, interactive SmartBoard activity etc. I have a bit of work to do to get ready for this year.
My name is Matt and I teach 6th grade social studies. I have a project about Egypt which is my signature project for the year. Students need a lot of help and clarification when they get into the project. My goal is to have students use my blog to ask questions so they don't get too far into their projects before getting help.
With the grant ending we will no longer be having regular meetings to address concerns. We could create a blog where we could talk about them & suggest solutions. By limiting membership, we could also have a measure of confidentiality. People could also participate at times when it was individually convenient.
My name is JR and I teach fifth grade students. My pet project is the Challenger Learning Center where my students are able to explore space. Hopefully, I will be able to incorporate the "Blogger" into my Challenger Lessons.
Remember to try and figure out how you can use a blog with your "pet project"!
I teach 6th grade language arts.
Blogs would be a good tool for persasive writing. Students could post their opinion and supporting facts and get feedback from others concerning fact and opinion. This sounds like a fun way for the students to become involved in writing.
I teach grade 8 math. I think that blogging might give students an opportunity to research math help at home. It will also give them an opportunity to technologically advance their abilities.
Greetings, my name is Mokita. I am teaching 8th grade Language Arts this year. I would like my students assist me in creating and maintaining a classroom blog. This blog could detail book/story reviews, student accomplishments, etc.
I am still completely confused as to how I sholud be able to use this in my classroom...the concept is wonderful, but my lack of computer confidence will hold me back
Hello, hello, hello! My name is Sue Kampwirth and I am a 5th grade teacher. I actually have two different project that are my favorites (platonic solids/polyhedra and Native Americans). For the solids, I would like to have students find objects in nature that correspond to each solid that they have created physically in the classroom and post them. For my Native American project, website links with notation on their given tribe. Other students can view the sites and comment back what they have learned about others tribes and comment about the site itself. We'll see...
